Viral Video Sparks Outrage: Officials Transferred

An administrative lapse in the Thanjavur panchayat union has led to the transfer of three officials after a dismissed temporary staff member was found performing duties. The incident came to light when a video of the staffer, V. Sudharsan, preparing salary bills for mid-day meal employees went viral on social media, igniting public anger.

Collector R. Revathi has initiated disciplinary action, demanding a written explanation from the panchayat union commissioner within seven days. The lapse involved re-engaging Sudharsan, who was dismissed on July 6 following an investigation into irregularities in his appointment. As a consequence, the Deputy BDO (nutrition), V. Chitra, and Assistant R. Revathi have been transferred. The newly appointed temporary computer assistant, S. Sneha, has also been relieved of her duties.
