In Thane, a court has delivered a three-year rigorous imprisonment sentence to three individuals, including two women, for the kidnapping of a five-month-old baby. The crime, which occurred in October of the previous year, was brought to light when the infant's mother, a scrap collector, reported the child missing while her family slept under the Rabodi flyover bridge.
Analysis of CCTV footage from nearby buildings proved crucial, capturing a woman in a red dress abducting the infant. This footage showed her meeting two other individuals, indicating a planned operation. Acting on a subsequent tip-off, law enforcement authorities conducted a raid in Rabodi, successfully rescuing the baby and apprehending the suspects.
The court found the accused guilty of kidnapping but acquitted them of trafficking charges, stating the prosecution had not definitively established the exact purpose behind the abduction, such as sale or forced labor. The swift action by the police ensured the child's safe return and brought the perpetrators to justice.
