Thai Fortune Teller Nabbed for Phone Theft

In Pattaya, Thailand, a fortune teller named Udomsap Mueangkaew, aged 38, was apprehended by police on New Year's Day for allegedly stealing a teenager's mobile phone.

The incident occurred after the victim, 19-year-old Pim, sought his services. Mueangkaew then told her she would face bad luck and lose a valuable possession, requesting payment to prevent it. When Pim declined, he reportedly stole her iPhone, only for it to be discovered by police hidden in his bag.

Mueangkaew later confessed, stating he was a first-time offender needing money. The stolen iPhone was returned to Pim, and the fortune teller was taken into custody with his equipment. This incident highlights the significant spiritual services market in Thailand.
