In Anson, Texas, a terrifying ordeal came to light when a 22-year-old woman with physical and mental disabilities was found locked inside a dog kennel. Her desperate screams for help, heard by a neighbor, initiated a rescue that exposed severe abuse.
Justin Anderson, the neighbor, captured alarming audio and video evidence of the woman's confinement, which he then provided to authorities. Responding officers discovered the victim inside the tarp-covered kennel, secured with a wire cable, on a cold November night. Kandice Thompson, the woman's foster caregiver, was subsequently arrested.
Thompson now faces serious charges including aggravated kidnapping and endangering a disabled individual. The victim, who had been adopted by the Thompsons as a child, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and has since been released to a family member. Two other vulnerable adults were removed from Thompson's home.
