A Texas mother is facing serious charges after allegedly manipulating doctors by forging her young son's medical history to force unnecessary procedures. Kaitlyn Rose Laura, 31, is accused of convincing medical professionals that her three-year-old son was critically ill.
Reports indicate Laura made her son use a wheelchair despite not needing one and falsely claimed he had cerebral palsy on social media. The child was allegedly placed on 17 medications and fed less than 1,000 calories daily. Authorities have charged Laura with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and causing serious bodily injury to a child.
Medical providers stated that several conditions reported by Laura, including seizures and severe feeding issues, were unsupported by testing. She was reportedly fixated on invasive treatments and refused alternatives. The boy underwent a procedure to insert a gastrojejunostomy tube. Laura also allegedly solicited funds online and gifts for her son's supposed medical journey.
