Michael Chadwick Fry, 41, was arrested on March 18, 2026, for allegedly removing human remains from a cemetery mausoleum in Denton County, Texas. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) Cemetery in Denton showed signs of damage, with human remains confirmed missing from a mausoleum. The investigation intensified after Fry's mother reported his request for a U-Haul to move a body. She later informed police about a video showing Fry outside the FBI's Dallas field office with a bucket of what he claimed were human remains.
Authorities reviewed a YouTube video allegedly depicting Fry throwing a bucket over the FBI fence, stating the contents were "Elizabeth's remains" to draw attention to alleged wrongdoing by Denton County officials. Human bones were found in the bucket. Two other videos from Fry's account reportedly showed him holding a human skull at his Bartonville residence. Evidence at the Denton cemetery also suggested a coffin had been removed.
Further investigation revealed Fry was suspected of stealing an urn with human remains from a cemetery in Oklahoma City in February 2026. GPS records from his vehicle showed searches for multiple cemeteries. Fry was charged with two counts of abuse of a corpse and one count of tampering with evidence. He has a history of over two dozen arrests since 2003, including charges related to assault and burglary. In 2018, he was arrested for crashing a truck into a Dallas television station building.
