A man convicted of assaulting his former partner, resulting in a perforated eardrum, has been given a suspended jail sentence. Tony Price, aged 37, from Dawley in Telford, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. These offenses took place in 2018.
During the first assault, Price struck the victim on the back of the head, causing her ear injury. Two months later, he forcibly entered her home and assaulted her again. A charge of coercive and controlling behaviour was ordered to lie on file.
Shrewsbury Crown Court sentenced Price to two years imprisonment, suspended for two years. He was also mandated to perform 300 hours of unpaid community work and pay £1,000 in compensation to the victim. Additionally, a five-year restraining order was imposed.
Law enforcement officials described the assaults as "ferocious" and occurring "behind closed doors." They commended the victim's resilience, hoping she can now rebuild her life after escaping the abusive relationship.
