27 Sep, 2025
Summary
- 23 senior IPS officers transferred in major police reshuffle
- VC Sajjanar appointed as new Hyderabad Police Commissioner
- Vijay Kumar named as new Intelligence Chief

On September 25, 2025, the Telangana government carried out one of the biggest reshuffles of the state police establishment in recent months. As part of the overhaul, the government transferred as many as 23 senior IPS officers, including the appointment of 1996 batch IPS officer VC Sajjanar as the new Hyderabad Police Commissioner, replacing CV Anand.
Anand, who served as Hyderabad's Police Commissioner between 2021 and 2023, has now been moved to the civil administration as the Special Chief Secretary (Home Department). The government also appointed 1997 batch officer Vijay Kumar as the new Intelligence Chief, a key position.
The reshuffle brought changes to several other top posts, including vigilance, civil supplies, anti-Naxal units, and various city police zones. The move came just hours after the government appointed B Shivadhar Reddy, the current DGP (Intelligence), as the next in-charge DGP (head of police force) for Telangana.
Sajjanar, who previously served as the Cyberabad Police Commissioner, will now take charge of the Hyderabad police force. The government has also made several other notable transfers, including the appointment of Charu Sinha as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and Anil Kumar as the head of the elite Greyhounds anti-Naxal commando unit and the counter-terror wing OCTOPUS.
