Telangana High Court Monitors Probe into Doctor Couple's Case
5 Jan
Summary
- Elderly doctor couple accused of sexually harassing their daughter.
- Couple claims daughter, influenced by her live-in partner, filed false charges.
- High court directs police chief to personally supervise the inquiry.

In a significant development, the Telangana high court has ordered the Cyberabad police commissioner to personally oversee an inquiry concerning complaints lodged by an elderly doctor couple. The couple, from Miyapur, faces accusations of sexually harassing their daughter since she was a minor. The court's directive, issued on December 29, mandates that the commissioner review the couple's complaints filed in December 2024, April, and June 2025.
During the hearing, Justice NV Shravan Kumar suggested that the Madhapur DCP, a woman officer, would be best suited to handle the sensitive investigation. The petition was filed by the doctor couple challenging the Miyapur police's alleged inaction on their complaints against their daughter's live-in partner, who belongs to a different faith. They contend their daughter, a medical student, was influenced by her partner to falsely accuse them.
The couple expressed concerns that their daughter, who they claim suffers from mental health issues, is being exploited by her partner to gain control of family properties. The court took serious note of the closure of the couple's complaints due to a lack of evidence, stressing that police must investigate their allegations with the same diligence as the case filed against them.
