Two minor boys in Thane, Maharashtra, have been detained for allegedly murdering their 17-year-old friend, Prajyot Kamble, on September 24. The motive behind the brutal act was to steal the gold chain Kamble was wearing, which one of the accused intended to sell to fund his birthday celebration and the other to purchase a bike.
The boys reportedly lured Prajyot to a secluded area under the guise of smoking. There, they allegedly attacked him with a knife and a stone, causing his death. To conceal their crime, they poured petrol on the body and set it ablaze.
In a bid to evade capture, the perpetrators attempted to replicate a plot from the movie 'Drishyam.' They threw Prajyot's mobile phone into a bus, hoping to divert police attention and make tracking difficult. However, their ruse was exposed through meticulous examination of CCTV footage and mobile location data.
Both minors have confessed to the crime. Police have registered a kidnapping case and are conducting further investigations. Authorities are urging parents to closely monitor their children's activities and behavior.
