An inquest into the death of 13-year-old Casey-Louise Horrocks is facing significant delays, with the pathologist's report on the cause of death still outstanding six months after the incident.
Casey-Louise had traveled from Greater Manchester to Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, to meet a 16-year-old boy when she suffered four cardiac arrests. She was found unresponsive in the boy's room on August 11, 2026, and tragically passed away in hospital the following day, August 12, 2026. The teenager was in the care of the local authority at the time.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of rape and murder in connection with Casey-Louise's death, as well as the rape of another girl. He has since been released on bail. Despite a post-mortem examination, the exact cause of Casey-Louise's death is unknown. While a toxicology report is complete, police are awaiting the forensic pathologist's findings. The inquest proceedings have been suspended for a further six months at the request of the police.
