Summary
- Killer Vickrum Digwa jailed for minimum 21 years for murder.
- Digwa filmed victim Henry Nowak suffering, ignoring desperation.
- Demonstrations erupted after Digwa's sentencing on Monday.

Vickrum Digwa received a minimum 21-year sentence for the murder of 18-year-old Henry Nowak, sparking protests and clashes with police on Monday. Judge William Mousley KC noted Digwa's "callous disregard" for Nowak's suffering, highlighting that Digwa filmed the victim while he was dying. Henry Nowak, a devoted university student, was fatally stabbed on December 3, 2025. His family described experiencing a "life sentence" of pain and loss due to the violent circumstances of his death. The court detailed the profound grief of his parents, sister Olivia, and step-father.
Digwa encountered Nowak on Belmont Road, Southampton, on December 3, 2025. A brief interaction escalated when Nowak, filming Digwa's visible Sikh dagger, asked if he was a "bad man." Digwa responded affirmatively, grabbed Nowak's phone, and a struggle ensued. The judge found Digwa's claims of self-defense to be lies. Digwa deliberately stabbed Nowak multiple times with a large Sikh dagger, including a fatal chest wound. He then continued filming Nowak's suffering and lied to the police, which hampered the investigation and led to the arrest of his family members.
