A violent confrontation over a football match in Thiruvananthapuram resulted in the tragic death of 18-year-old Alan, who was attempting to mediate. The clash, involving over 30 youths including students, stemmed from ongoing tensions between two local football teams. During the ensuing fight, Alan was fatally stabbed, succumbing to his injuries shortly after being rushed to the hospital.
Cantonment police have arrested two youths, identified as Sandeep and Akhilesh, aged 27 and 20 respectively. They have been remanded in judicial custody and charged under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita for murder. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining five accused, believed to be minors, who are currently absconding.
Alan, a theological student with aspirations of becoming an evangelist, was remembered by friends and neighbours as cheerful. His family had recently experienced another profound loss with the death of his older sister. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage to reconstruct the events leading to the fatal attack.
