A 14-year-old boy has been sentenced to 11 years and 10 months in detention for fatally stabbing 14-year-old Ibrahima Seck. The tragic event occurred on June 8, 2025, in New Moston, north Manchester, after Ibrahima went to play football with friends. He was chased and stabbed in the heart but identified his attacker before succumbing to his injuries in hospital within an hour.
The convicted killer, whose identity is protected by law, boasted about the murder in a rap video created shortly after the fatal incident. The court heard how the 16-year-old co-defendant handed the knife to the 14-year-old killer during the chase, with both of them, along with another 14-year-old, having a common intent. This second 14-year-old assailant was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter.
Two other teenagers, aged 14 and 16 at the time, were convicted of manslaughter for assisting and encouraging the main attacker. They received sentences of two years and four months, and two years and ten months respectively. The judge denied an application to lift reporting restrictions that would have revealed the names of the teenage offenders. Two women involved in assisting the teenagers after the crime received suspended sentences.
