- Court heard of idolization of serial killers and fixation on violence.
- Police found explosives and internet material on bomb-making.

A teenager, Jagger Strang, has been sentenced to three years and 11 months in custody for possessing explosive substances and threatening to bomb his college. The 18-year-old admitted to accessing online material detailing gunpowder manufacture and improvised detonator creation. Staffordshire Police were alerted by a safeguarding officer at Stafford College, where Strang was a woodwork student.
During a sentencing hearing at Birmingham Crown Court, it was revealed that Strang had idolized serial killers and displayed a disturbing fixation with violence. He had told fellow students about his plans to blow up a classroom and had researched bomb-making online. Police searches of his home found explosives and documents outlining his violent aspirations.
Prosecutors noted Strang's background included living in South Africa before moving to the UK. A manifesto written in 2025 detailed his desire to emulate serial killers. He had also sent videos of himself lighting substances to a fellow student. The court heard he had no terrorist links but possessed a "troubling extremist mindset."
Strang's defense stated he accepted responsibility and struggled with emotional regulation, leading to impulsive behavior. The judge emphasized the "longer-term potential" for harm due to Strang's obsession with serial killers and explosives, noting the chemicals were akin to dangerous weapons. The threats caused genuine fear among college staff and students, but police intervention prevented potential harm.
