The victim, identified as 16-year-old Darweish Mohamed, was discovered with critical injuries in a car park on Wednesday, July 2, 2026, around 7:50 PM. Despite immediate CPR administered by a hospital staff member, he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities located a burnt-out vehicle in Oaklands Junction, a location over ten kilometers from where Darweish was found, which they believe is linked to the stabbing. Another individual, a 20-year-old man from Beveridge, faces charges of criminal damage by fire and has been granted bail. Two other teenagers were also apprehended; a 15-year-old boy is currently being interviewed, while a 15-year-old girl has been charged with affray and theft of a motor vehicle and bailed.
Friends of Darweish gathered at the scene, creating a memorial with flowers and photos. They remembered him as a student from Mount Ridley College and a "sweet guy." The hospital confirmed staff provided aid and are offering support to those involved, while the Education Department is assisting affected schools.
