Ex-WWE Star Ted DiBiase Jr Found Not Guilty in Major Fraud Case
21 Mar
Summary
- Ex-WWE star Ted DiBiase Jr was acquitted of fraud charges in Mississippi.
- He faced accusations of buying property with illegally obtained funds.
- The case was linked to a larger welfare fraud scandal involving Brett Favre.

In a Mississippi court, former WWE performer Ted DiBiase Jr was found not guilty by a jury on charges related to fraud. The acquittal means DiBiase Jr avoids a potential 185-year prison sentence. He had been accused of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, theft, and money laundering.
These allegations stemmed from the Mississippi welfare fraud scandal, which also involved NFL Hall-of-Famer Brett Favre, who has denied wrongdoing and was not charged. DiBiase Jr was accused of using 'sham contracts' to misappropriate funds earmarked for social services to purchase assets including a $1.4 million home and a $55,000 boat. His brother, Brett DiBiase, a former wrestler, has pleaded guilty to related charges.
DiBiase Jr, who competed in the WWE from 2007 to 2013, had pleaded not guilty. His father, Ted DiBiase Sr, and Brett Favre were sued by the state of Mississippi to recover funds. DiBiase Sr also denies any wrongdoing and has filed a defamation lawsuit against Mississippi State Auditor Shad White.
