An Economic Offences Wing (EOW) operation in Lucknow has led to the conviction of two individuals for their roles in a fake marksheet and illegal recruitment case. The Court of the Special Judge, Prevention of Corruption, CBI (Central), Lucknow, sentenced Ashok Kumar and Ranveer Singh, an Agra University employee, to three years of simple imprisonment and imposed a Rs 1 lakh fine on each.
The investigation revealed that Ashok Kumar, who had previously obtained his BA in third division in 1988, later used forged BA and BEd marksheets. These fabricated documents were created in collusion with university employees, including Ranveer Singh.
Using these fraudulent credentials, Kumar gained admission to the Vishisht BTC course in 2007. Subsequently, he obtained an appointment as an assistant teacher at a primary school in the Agra district.
The EOW SIT's probe confirmed that the accused deliberately manipulated academic records to unlawfully secure government employment. This successful prosecution underscores the EOW's efforts in upholding the integrity of recruitment processes.
