Summary
- Teacher Mackenzie McLean faces sex offense and drug charges.
- Alleged acts occurred with a student who was 18 in 2024.
- McLean ordered to wear GPS monitor if bond is posted.

Mackenzie McLean, a 49-year-old economics teacher at Crooms Academy, has been arrested and faces charges of a sex offense by an authority figure and drug distribution. The alleged acts reportedly took place in her Lake Mary home while the victim was 18 years old and attending high school in 2024. Texts from McLean suggest an ongoing sexual relationship with the student, who had moved in with her after being expelled from his home.
According to the arrest report, McLean allegedly groomed the student and others by supplying alcohol and drugs. Neighbors expressed shock and sadness, noting that McLean's home appeared to be used as a hangout for high school students and that windows were often covered, suggesting efforts to conceal activities. A witness reported McLean becoming violent with a knife when the student decided to move out.
McLean was granted bond by a judge but will be required to wear a GPS ankle monitor. She is also strictly forbidden from returning to Crooms Academy or any campus within Seminole County. Records indicate the victim would drive McLean to school as her driver's license was suspended.
