Summary
- Teacher jailed for relationship with pupil and online deception.
- Thousands of messages found linking teacher to student.
- Lifetime ban imposed for disregarding pupil well-being.

Alexander Webb, a former teacher from Staffordshire, has received a lifetime ban from the teaching profession. This follows his sentencing to five years and seven months in prison last February for a six-month relationship with a pupil. The court heard Webb also created a Snapchat account, posing as a teenage boy to engage in sexualized conversations with other girls.
Investigations uncovered a significant volume of evidence, including 39,400 messages pertaining to the student and approximately 5,000 Snapchat contacts involving pupils from his school. The Teaching Regulation Agency concluded that Webb demonstrated a complete disregard for the safeguarding and well-being of his students.
Accepting the agency's recommendation, the secretary of state imposed a prohibition order. This measure is deemed necessary to protect children and uphold public confidence in the education sector.
