Zachary Schettone, a 39-year-old teacher at Gulph Elementary School, was arrested on Tuesday, March 16, 2026. Police in Upper Merion Township allege that Schettone inappropriately touched a student from his third-grade class. The incident is reported to have occurred in August 2025 when the student allegedly sat on Schettone's lap.
Upper Merion Township police initiated an investigation after the victim came forward. School district administrators were promptly notified and placed Schettone on immediate leave. He has not returned to work since the investigation began. Schettone faces serious charges, including indecent assault without consent, indecent assault of a victim under 13, corruption of minors, and harassment by physical contact.
A preliminary hearing for Zachary Schettone is scheduled for April 6, 2026. The Upper Merion Area School District has been contacted for further comment on the matter.
