A taxi driver, Sushil alias Sahil, 25, was abducted in broad daylight from Chandigarh and later found murdered in Dera Bassi, with police reporting he was attacked with iron rods. His body was discovered near the Dera Bassi civil hospital on Friday afternoon. Sector 31 police have registered a case against Anil, a resident of Zirakpur, and his associates.
Sushil's family alleges the murder was a retaliatory act stemming from an incident in November 2025. At a birthday party, an altercation occurred where Anil's brother allegedly ran in front of Sushil's car, leading to his accidental death. Sushil had an FIR registered against him in that case.
Police confirmed raids are underway in Zirakpur and surrounding areas to apprehend the accused. Grieving family members mentioned that Sushil, who was engaged to be married in two months, lived with his brother and sister-in-law.
