A fatal shooting occurred on Park Avenue in Syracuse on Sunday, February 8th, 2026. Officers were dispatched to the 900 block following an alert from the city's ShotSpotter system.
Upon arrival, police learned a man had been taken to Crouse Hospital with a chest gunshot wound. The 33-year-old victim, identified as Jonathan Pitts of Syracuse, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The area around Playmakers Sports Bar at 901 Park Ave. was cordoned off as crime scene tape was visible hours after the incident. Police are treating the investigation as active and ongoing.
