Disturbing discoveries of sausage meat laced with rat poison have been made in Weekley Park, located in Sydney's inner west. The dangerous findings have led to a critical warning issued to local residents and dog owners regarding the highly toxic substances potentially scattered in the area. One local owner, Steve Badgery, recounted the terrifying experience of rushing his eight-year-old English Cocker Spaniel, William, to the vet after the dog ingested poisoned sausage. Veterinarians were able to induce vomiting, saving William from the worst effects of the rat bait. While William is expected to recover fully, the incident underscores a severe risk to pets frequenting the park.

In response to the poisonings, heightened vigilance among park-goers is advised, with recommendations to keep dogs leashed and prevent them from eating items found on the ground.
