A 27-year-old Sydney lawyer, Sylvan Singh, has been arrested and charged in connection with serious criminal activities. Singh is accused of directing an armed kidnapping that occurred in Pemulwuy last year. During this incident, the male target was abducted into a stolen Mercedes by three masked individuals armed with weapons.
The target managed to escape the vehicle shortly after being taken, leading the assailants to flee into nearby bushland. Singh faces further allegations of orchestrating a home invasion in Ermington two weeks after the alleged kidnapping. In that incident, four individuals stormed a residence, stealing electronics and assaulting two people.
These matters are being investigated under the umbrella of Strike Force Velinda. This ongoing investigation has so far resulted in ten charges being laid. Singh was arrested at his Ryde address and appeared in court to face these charges.
