Grandfather Kidnapped in Mistaken Identity Case Found Dead
25 Feb
Summary
- Eighty-five-year-old grandfather mistakenly kidnapped in Sydney raid.
- Two men arrested as human remains believed to be victim found.
- Police confirm victim had no links to organised crime.

Australian police have arrested two men following the death of an 85-year-old Sydney grandfather, Chris Baghsarian, who was allegedly abducted in a case of mistaken identity. Baghsarian was taken from his North Ryde residence on February 13th during a raid investigators believe was intended for another party with alleged links to organized crime.
Less than 24 hours after police discovered human remains near a city outskirts golf course, which they strongly suspect belong to Baghsarian, two men aged 24 and 29 were apprehended. No charges have yet been filed. Authorities had previously stated with high confidence that Baghsarian was the wrong target, as he and his family had no connections to criminal elements.
The discovery of the remains followed an investigation involving burnt-out cars and a raid on an abandoned property in Dural. Police are urging witnesses who may have seen anything near the golf course on February 14th to come forward. This incident echoes a similar mistaken identity killing last year in Sydney.
