Ex-Cop's Double Murder Trial Begins in Sydney

The double murder trial of former police officer Beaumont Lamarre-Condon is commencing in Sydney on Monday. Lamarre-Condon, 31, stands accused of fatally shooting his ex-partner Jesse Baird, 26, a television presenter, and Baird's new partner Luke Davies, 29, a Qantas flight attendant. The alleged murders occurred at a home in Paddington, an inner Sydney suburb.
Authorities located the bodies of Baird and Davies more than 200km southwest of Sydney, concealed within surfboard bags. The discovery followed a search initiated after bloodied personal items belonging to the couple were found in a Sydney bin in February 2024. Lamarre-Condon surrendered to police and was subsequently charged with two counts of domestic violence-related murder and aggravated break and enter.
Lamarre-Condon was dismissed from New South Wales Police in the weeks following his arrest. The trial is expected to proceed for three months, with jury selection and opening statements scheduled for Monday.
