A serious crash in Sydney's southwest has left a 21-year-old woman fighting for life, with two other women in the same vehicle also hospitalized in serious condition. The incident occurred around 11 pm on Wednesday when police attempted to stop a Ford Ranger ute for allegedly speeding through a red light.
Police initiated a pursuit, which was temporarily terminated due to safety concerns. However, officers resumed the chase, and the ute allegedly ran another red light, colliding with a BMW sedan and a Toyota Yaris hatchback. The 17-year-old alleged driver of the stolen ute was taken to hospital for precautionary checks.
Authorities have declared a critical incident, and an independent team will investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. The ute was reported stolen from Liverpool on Tuesday, December 9. The alleged driver is expected to be taken to Liverpool Police Station.
