Suspended Baltimore Cop Charged with Attempted Murder After Chasing Man with Police SUV

On October 27, 2025, a Baltimore police officer named Robert A. Parks was involved in a concerning incident that has led to serious charges against him. According to prosecutors, Parks attempted to run over a man with his police vehicle while on duty, and the entire incident was captured on video by a bystander.

The video shows Parks having a discussion with a man on the street, who then begins to walk away from him down an alleyway. Parks then jumps into his police SUV and speeds off after the man, following him into a grassy area where he appears to clip the man with the vehicle. The man being chased then starts sprinting down the street, with the SUV driving up onto the sidewalk in pursuit.

Ultimately, Parks stops his car and gets out to apprehend the man, though the video cuts off at that point. Prosecutors claim that the incident was sparked when Parks told a group of people to "take a lap" and stop loitering, and one of the men just kept walking, which allegedly set off the suspended officer.

The Baltimore Police Commissioner, Richard Worley, has described the incident as "not only disturbing, but alarming" and stated that it does not reflect the values or standards of the Baltimore Police Department. Parks has been charged with second-degree attempted murder, assault, reckless driving, and misconduct in office, and he turned himself in on Wednesday morning.
