A woman in Greater Noida experienced nearly 18 months of persistent abdominal pain after a delivery procedure in November 2023. Despite seeking medical help at various hospitals, the cause of her suffering remained undiagnosed. It was only during a subsequent surgery in April 2025 that surgeons discovered a roughly half-meter piece of gauze within her abdomen.
Following the discovery and removal of the surgical cloth, the woman alleged inaction from health authorities. She had filed an inquiry application in late April 2025 but received no response. This prompted her to approach the court, leading to the registration of an FIR on December 24, 2025, at the Knowledge Park police station.
The FIR names six suspects and is being investigated for potential medical negligence under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities are examining whether the prolonged suffering was a result of negligence during the initial treatment.
