Summary
- Surgical instrument allegedly remained inside patient for over a year.
- Hospital management accused of fabricating reports to conceal error.
- FIR registered after court order following a two-year ordeal.

A 57-year-old woman has accused a private medical college of leaving a surgical instrument inside her abdomen during a 2023 surgery and subsequently attempting to conceal the error through fabricated medical reports. The First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Tuesday night, January 7, 2026, after the woman approached a local court.
The complaint details that the patient experienced severe abdominal pain in January 2023, leading to surgery on February 27, 2023. After a second surgery on March 17, 2023, and discharge on March 23, 2023, she continued to suffer. By August 2025, an ultrasound detected abnormalities, but she claims doctors provided misleading reports to hide the foreign object.
After seeking a second opinion and undergoing a CT scan on August 9, 2025, the instrument was confirmed. A subsequent surgery on August 20, 2025, successfully removed the object. The patient alleges she was charged nearly ₹5 lakh for treatment between February 2023 and August 2025, despite the ongoing issue. The FIR was filed under sections related to endangering human life and grievous hurt.
