Summary
- Doctor stabbed rival in planned attack to settle grudge.
- Attempted to burn down rival's £1 million home.
- Surgeon struck off after life sentence for attempted murder.

A plastic surgeon, Jonathan Peter Brooks, 62, has been struck off the medical register and jailed for attempting to murder a colleague, Graeme Perks, 69. The attack occurred in January 2021 at Mr. Perks' home in Nottinghamshire.
Brooks broke into his rival's £1 million home, wearing a disguise and attempting to set it ablaze with petrol. He then stabbed Mr. Perks multiple times in what was described as a premeditated plan to settle a professional grudge.
Found guilty of attempted murder, arson, and knife possession, Brooks was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 22 years. The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service deemed his fitness to practice impaired due to the severity and premeditated nature of his actions.
The dispute originated from disciplinary proceedings Mr. Perks was involved in against Brooks. Despite the violence inflicted, Mr. Perks expressed no bitterness, noting the irony of a burns surgeon attempting immolation. Brooks has shown no remorse or insight into his behaviour.
