Surgeon Jailed for Extreme Body Mod Fraud Scheme
14 Nov
Summary
- Surgeon imprisoned for encouraging grievous bodily harm
- Eunuch Maker group leader claimed £18,500 in disability benefits
- Taiwanese students jailed for frostbite amputation insurance scam

In November 2025, a surgeon was imprisoned for his involvement in an extreme body modification insurance fraud scheme. Prosecutors alleged that the surgeon had purchased online videos showing limb removals and encouraged an individual named Marius Gustavson to remove body parts of third parties.
Gustavson, the leader of the "Eunuch Maker" group that offered pay-per-view "extreme body modifications", had previously claimed £18,500 in disability benefits after amputating his own leg. Meanwhile, in 2023, two Taiwanese students, Zhang and Liao, were jailed for attempting to defraud five insurance companies. Zhang had insisted his legs be amputated due to frostbite from a motorcycle journey, but it was revealed that Liao had tied Zhang to a chair and immersed his feet in dry ice for 10 hours, leading to the inevitable amputation.
These cases highlight the disturbing intersection of insurance fraud, extreme body modifications, and the use of drugs like crack cocaine to fuel such criminal activities. The authorities have vowed to crack down on these types of schemes to protect both individuals and the integrity of the insurance industry.
