- The surgeon worked in hospitals in Barnstaple and Truro.

An NHS trainee surgeon, Salil Korambayil, has been convicted on three counts of rape involving two women after a retrial concluded at Truro Crown Court. This verdict follows the quashing of his previous convictions in October.
Korambayil, who worked as a colorectal and vascular surgeon in Barnstaple and Truro, committed the assaults at the victims' homes in August 2020 and March 2021. During the proceedings, it emerged that the 34-year-old surgeon had hired a private investigator to probe the background of one of his victims. This action brought new information to light which appeal judges deemed should be considered by a jury.
The retrial ultimately resulted in a guilty verdict on all counts, establishing the conclusion of this legal process as of the current date.
