Summary
- Three men impersonating police officers were arrested.
- A construction supervisor was targeted in a Rs 5 lakh extortion.
- Two women were involved in the honey-trap scheme.

In a swift operation on Saturday evening, Umra police in Surat apprehended three individuals posing as law enforcement officers. These men were attempting to extort Rs 5 lakh from a construction supervisor by threatening him with a false rape accusation.
The scheme involved a honey trap, where the victim was initially lured to an apartment through an online 'female service' advertisement. Upon arrival, he was met by a woman who demanded an advance payment.
Subsequently, three men, identifying themselves as a sub-inspector, a constable, and a writer, confronted the victim. They threatened to implicate him in a fabricated rape case unless he paid Rs 5 lakh. Police, acting on a tip-off, raided the apartment during the extortion negotiation.
The raid resulted in the arrest of the three impersonators and two women involved in the honey trap. Fake police identity cards were recovered. Six individuals have been booked for extortion, impersonation, and other related offenses, though one suspect remains at large.
