Surat Court Rejects Student's Bail in Harassment Case
4 Sep
Summary
- Court rejected student's bail in alleged harassment case.
- Student died by suicide allegedly due to harassment.
- Four senior students booked for abetment of suicide.

In Surat, a court has denied the anticipatory bail application of a second-year postgraduate student from Government Medical College (GMC). This decision is in connection with a case alleging mental and physical harassment of Dr. Harsh Pandya, a first-year student and junior doctor who died by suicide on August 9.
Dr. Pandya's father filed a complaint on August 15 against four senior students. An anti-ragging committee at GMC Surat concluded that the accused used abusive language and forced junior students into menial tasks.
The accused were booked under sections related to abetment of suicide and wrongful confinement. The court's rejection of bail for one student was confirmed, while a decision for another accused is pending.
