In Surat, a violent incident unfolded within the family court premises on Friday morning. A senior citizen husband attacked his wife with acid during a hearing for a maintenance and recovery plea. The victim sustained injuries, particularly around her eyes. Some acid also splashed onto nearby lawyers.
Following the acid attack, the husband reportedly ingested a poisonous substance in an apparent suicide attempt. Both the assailant and his victim were rushed to the hospital for urgent treatment. The Umra police arrived at the scene and have commenced an investigation into the disturbing events.
This was not the first instance of alleged violence, as the woman's lawyer stated the husband had attacked her previously, leading to an attempt-to-murder case. The accused was out on bail when the assault occurred.
