Recent investigations by the Kerala Police strongly suggest that Kurup may have passed away years ago from heart disease. Investigators reached this conclusion following the statement of a former nurse from Alappuzha who reportedly encountered Kurup in Jharkhand. She described him as being admitted to the ICU with heart disease around 40 years ago. Given his health condition at the time, authorities believe it's improbable he survived for so long, especially since he had no contact with his family.
Sukumara Kurup has been wanted since January 22, 1984. He is accused of murdering Chacko, strangling him, and then setting his body ablaze in a car. The alleged motive was to fake his own death and fraudulently collect on an insurance policy.
The investigation team is preparing to submit a final report to the crime branch chief, indicating a potential closure of the case after verifying remaining details.
