A 19-year-old student was found deceased in her room at a government-run women's hostel in Jamshedpur on Tuesday. The student, Neelmani Gorai, who had moved to the city in March for computer coaching, is believed to have died by suicide on Monday night.
Her brother received a final, cryptic message from Gorai stating, "I couldn't become the kind of sister you wanted me to be. Please forgive me, but don't let him go." Concerns arose when Gorai did not respond to calls on Tuesday morning.
Upon arriving at the hostel, her brother alerted the warden. Gorai was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan in her room. Medical personnel from MGM Hospital pronounced her dead at the scene. A case has been registered by the police as investigations into the incident continue.
