In Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, a 20-year-old B.Tech student died by suicide in her university hostel room on Saturday. Princy Kumari, a second-year student at OP Jindal University, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan. The room was locked from the inside, requiring police to force entry.
Her family initiated contact after being unable to reach her by phone, leading to the discovery by the hostel warden. A suicide note purportedly written by Kumari was found, expressing regret to her parents for failing to meet their expectations and for the financial burden she believed she caused.
The incident has prompted a police investigation to determine the precise circumstances leading to this extreme step. Kumari, a native of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, was residing in the university's JIT hostel. Her body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
