A rare cremello horse, stolen eight years ago during a farm break-in in Morayshire, Scotland, has been recovered in Yorkshire and returned to its owner. Polo, a 13-year-old stallion, was discovered by West Yorkshire Police's Wildlife and Rural Crime Team following community intelligence. Owner Zoe Urquart described the reunion as "absolutely fantastic," admitting she had lost hope of finding him.
Urquart stated that Polo was found in "really poor" condition, with a tumor requiring removal and suffering from sore eyes, indicating significant neglect. The cost of his veterinary and rehabilitation care is expected to run into thousands of pounds. She suspects Polo was stolen due to his rare genetic coloring.
Despite his health issues, Polo is reportedly settling back in at the Morayshire stables. West Yorkshire Police confirmed that Polo was seized after his microchip confirmed he was stolen in 2018. Enquiries into the original theft are ongoing.
