In the early hours of January 20, 2026, a planned theft of a high-performance Ferrari 488 Pista in Cahors, southern France, resulted in the vehicle's destruction. Two suspects reportedly spent approximately 45 minutes searching for the supercar's keys within the ILM Auto showroom.
They ultimately escaped the premises by driving the Ferrari directly through a closed garage bay window. However, their getaway was short-lived. The driver lost control on a wet road near Montpezat-de-Quercy, leading to a crash into a guardrail and a subsequent fire.
The blaze completely destroyed the Ferrari, leaving authorities with minimal physical evidence. Investigators are now primarily relying on surveillance footage to identify the suspects and piece together the events of the failed heist.
