A high-speed pursuit in Pocatello concluded with a suspect crashing a stolen vehicle into a home before attempting to evade capture on foot. Ronald Ray Hymas, 34, is charged with multiple felonies, including eluding an officer, after leading Pocatello police on a chase in a stolen Hyundai Elantra.
The incident began when an officer spotted the vehicle, believed to be linked to recent storage unit burglaries. Hymas allegedly drove erratically, accelerating to over 70 mph in residential areas before crashing into the front of a house. He then fled the vehicle and ran through the homeowner's residence.
Officers pursued Hymas on foot, eventually apprehending him after he refused to comply with commands. During the arrest, officers recovered items such as a vape pen and keys. Hymas also admitted to smoking methamphetamine earlier in the day. He is being held on a $25,000 bond and faces up to 10 and a half years in prison if convicted.
