The wife of a prominent rugby figure, Peter Meagher, who was among the 15 victims of the Bondi Beach massacre, has tearfully appealed for the return of his stolen camera. Meagher, 61, a former referee and first-grade team manager, was working as a freelance photographer at the Chanukah By the Sea event on December 14 when he was killed. His widow, Virginia, revealed on Thursday that his Canon camera was stolen from Archer Park in the chaotic aftermath of the attack.
Virginia Meagher shared her distress on Facebook, stating, 'I would very much like to have his camera returned.' The community has rallied around her, with many expressing outrage at the theft and hoping for the camera's safe return. Meagher was a cherished figure in the Randwick Rugby Club, known for his decades of volunteer service and his respected role as a referee in Sydney rugby circles. His funeral was held at St. Mary's Cathedral, attended by notable figures including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and NSW Premier Chris Minns.
