Authorities in Santa Ana, California, are actively searching for two individuals responsible for the theft of a valuable bronze Jesus statue. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on August 30, when the suspects targeted Christ Our Savior Catholic Church. Surveillance footage revealed the men used an electric cutting tool to detach the $50,000 sculpture from its base, leaving only the feet behind.
The suspects reportedly dragged the severed statue across the church grounds and loaded it into a getaway vehicle, believed to be waiting near Segerstrom High School. This is not the first time the church has been targeted; an earlier incident on April 22 involved damage to fence panels and partial cutting of the same statue, resulting in thousands of dollars in property damage.
Police have released images from the surveillance footage, hoping the public can identify the suspects, particularly one seen wearing a distinct T-shirt. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective R. Wilson.
