Nine men are on trial at Manchester Minshull Street crown court, facing charges related to abuse that occurred at a Stockport couple's home. The husband, who pleaded guilty to numerous offenses against his wife spanning over 20 years, allegedly sought out individuals whose fantasy involved abusing an unconscious woman. He reportedly drugged his wife to facilitate this abuse, which was sometimes encouraged or organized online.
The prosecution outlined how the husband interacted with several defendants, discussing and arranging for them to engage in sexual acts with his wife while she was incapacitated. These interactions reportedly involved discussions of date rape drugs and the provision of substances to drug the victim. Some defendants allegedly provided drugs in exchange for imagery of the abuse, while others participated directly in sexual acts at the couple's home.
During the trial, it was revealed that the husband actively searched online forums and news websites for information on date rape drugs like GHB. He allegedly shared images of his wife with strangers online and discussed how they would supply him with drugs for the purpose of her sexual abuse. Some defendants have already admitted to abusing the woman, while others deny the charges against them. The trial is expected to last three months.
