A thief has been sentenced to 36 weeks in jail after being caught stealing a rucksack worth £600 at London's St Pancras station. Hossein Rabah, 34, was arrested on January 4 by plain clothes British Transport Police officers immediately after snatching the bag from a restaurant.
CCTV footage revealed Rabah entering the Kineya Mugimaru restaurant, loitering behind a dining couple, and then brazenly swiping their rucksack. Officers, who were actively patrolling the station, intervened and arrested him on the spot before the victim was reunited with his belongings.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of theft in London, which has seen millions of pounds worth of luxury items stolen in recent years. British Transport Police emphasized their plain clothes patrols aim to deter and apprehend criminals, keeping passengers and their belongings safe across the rail network.
