A man accused of fatally beating his elderly mother has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Kevin Goodings, 61, admitted his guilt in Superior Court on Thursday for the killing of 83-year-old Anita Goodings. The horrific event transpired on March 11.
The court reviewed surveillance footage depicting the violent attack, which included the victim being pushed down, stomped on, and kicked. Her body was later found covered by a blanket. Kevin Goodings fled the apartment shortly after the assault.
Goodings was apprehended on March 15 after being spotted at a Via Rail station and attempting to travel by taxi. His family members were present in court during the proceedings, with some leaving to avoid viewing the graphic evidence. A joint sentencing submission is slated for January 14.
