In a shocking incident, 21-year-old Akshat Pratap Singh confessed to murdering his father, 50-year-old pharmaceutical and liquor businessman Manvendra Singh, on February 20. The fatal confrontation occurred around 4:30 am following a dispute, during which Akshat shot his father. He then dismembered the body using a machine, severing limbs and the head. The torso was placed in a blue drum, and the severed body parts were disposed of near the outskirts of Lucknow. Akshat's sister witnessed the events and was threatened into silence. Police sources indicated Akshat had planned to incinerate the remains. He had also stolen jewelry and cash, blaming a maid, and filed a missing-person report for his father, creating a WhatsApp group to simulate his father's disappearance. Akshat confessed after extensive questioning related to the missing-person case. Tensions between father and son reportedly stemmed from academic pressure, as Akshat resisted his father's wish for him to become a doctor and disliked the family business. Neighbours noted his interest in villainous roles and crime thrillers. Four years prior, Akshat had run away from home, leaving a letter expressing his disinterest in medical studies.
