Ringtone Reveals Son's Horrific Family Murder
28 Feb
Summary
- Son used a ringtone to mislead police about his family's disappearance.
- The accused confessed to killing his family and burying them in a pit.
- Financial motives are suspected in the brutal killings.

A baffling missing persons case took a gruesome turn when a ringing mobile phone, belonging to one of the 'missing' individuals, was discovered in the pocket of the person who reported them gone. Tilaknagar police were investigating the disappearance of a man, his wife, and their daughter, reported by their 27-year-old son, Akshay BJ. Despite initial efforts, the family remained untraceable.
The investigation dramatically shifted when, inside the station, the sister's mobile phone rang from Akshay's trousers. This pivotal moment led police to suspect foul play. Upon searching Akshay, they found SIM cards belonging to his 'missing' parents and sister. Akshay later confessed to slitting their throats and burying them in a 10-foot pit at their Kottur residence.
The killings reportedly occurred on the night of January 29. Akshay claimed his sister's desire to marry outside their caste, with parental support, as the motive. However, police suspect financial reasons, noting a recent property sale yielding Rs 1.2 crore, part of which Akshay had already spent without his father's knowledge. Akshay's uncle, Vasanth, has also been arrested for aiding in evidence destruction.
